STORY
Created using sustainably sourced materials and natural dyes, these large palm baskets are great as your new laundry hamper, for tucking away blankets or for any other creative storage needs you may have. The hand-braided palm is sewn together to create these super sturdy baskets that are both beautiful and versatile.
Made by talented weavers from Chilapa de Álvarez in the state of Guererro, Mexico, artisans in this area have been working with the native palm leaves for centuries. In this region, work with the wild fiber has its roots in utilitarian design, with locals using the palm leaves to create bags, baskets and hats. These talented makers have joined together to create a co-op with a unifying core mission – the preservation of culture and the economic reactivation of the artisan sector in the region.
